Take a look at the Multi-Active Delivery Essence
This is one of the first samples I received in September 2024, when I was invited to The Ordinary HQ. It was one of the most remarkable events, including a look at all the brand-new products coming in 2025. The Essence will come in a 100ml bottle. It´s incredibly lightweight and leaves skin feeling soft, silky, and hydrated. You would use it directly after cleansing and before applying your serums.
What does The Ordinary Multi-Active Delivery Essence do?
It´s a hydrating and conditioning essence that primes your skin for the absorption of the active ingredient and is proven to double the penetration of The Ordinary Niacinamide after one hour.
This conditioning formula provides immediate hydration and softness, leaving the skin smoother. Its lightweight, water-based texture helps strengthen the skin barrier with just one use while keeping skin nourished throughout the day for a radiant glow.

Apply after cleansing and before applying your serums.
My Personal Views So Far
I only have a tiny amount in a small sample bottle to try, and I have been using this for about 4 days now, so it´s not a full review. What I can tell you is that when I apply directly after cleansing, my skin feels soft, smooth, and hydrated. I´ve been applying my serums, and I feel they are absorbing better because I often get those dreaded “bits,” but I´ve noticed this isn´t happening. I do chop and change products as I´m always trying things out, so maybe it´s just a coincidence – let´s see! I can´t wait to get a whole bottle to give this a go.
How To Layer The Ordinary Essence
If you´re wondering in which order to apply The Ordinary Multi-Active Essence, it would be applied directly after cleansing. However, if you´re using the Milky Toner, you would apply this after.
The Ordinary Glass Skin Regimen Incorporating The New Essence
A brand new skincare regimen has been added to The Ordinary website. It´s the Glass Skin Regimen.

In this order, you would apply the following;
- Glycolipid Cream Cleanser
- Milky Toner – apply a few drops with a cotton pad or fingers
- Multi-Active Delivery Essence – apply a few drops to the face
- Niacinamide – 2 or 3 drops is all you need. Pat and massage until absorbed
- Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides. Seal all your products in with a pea-size of this moisturiser.
Now, if you know The Ordinary, you´ll know that sometimes their answers can contradict. In the regimen, you can see they have put the Milky Toner before the essence. On Instagram, someone posted:
“Am I correct in assuming I would apply it after the milky toner?”
“T.O It should be your first step after cleansing.”
“But the product listing on your website states that it should come after the milky toner.”
“Either works just fine, depending on your preference.”
