What is NIOD Modulating Glucosides?

The Short Explanation Modulating Glucosides is a concentrated emulsion to target signs of skin sensitivity, discomfort, and irritation. NIOD Modulating Glucosides reduce the looks of redness, itching, and irritation while helping to target stinging sensations.

What does NIOD Modulating Glucosides do?

  • Reduces the appearance of redness.
  • NIOD MG reduces itching
  • Reduces irritation
  • Targets stinging sensations

When and how do you use Modulating Glucosides?

  • You can use Modulating Glucosides in the morning and evening.
  • Apply a few drops to the palms of your hands, then pat or massage into your skin until it is completely absorbed.
  • If you are using other NIOD products, NIOD MG is applied after NIOD CAIS but before MMHC.
  • Patch testing is recommended.

Texture, Colour, Smell of NIOD MG

Firstly, the colour is a kind of yellow colour. The texture is beautiful, not too thick but not too thin either. As you can see in the video above, it´s easy to work with. NIOD MG absorbs beautifully into the skin and quickly, too, leaving it feeling lovely, soft and calm without any stickiness whatsoever. There is a smell to this, but it´s not too offensive. From the way this product goes on and leaves the skin feeling, I really feel this could be very soothing. But until I have redness or irritation, it´s going to be hard to tell.

Does Modulating Glucosides have any conflicts?

NIOD seems to be updating the website, and conflicts keep appearing, then disappearing and then changing. Currently, it says not to use Modulating Glucosides with Direct Acids, Direct Vitamin C or Resveratrol and ferulic Acid. Yet the FAQs below say it can be used with acids. It´s frustrating the conflicting information, and if in doubt, please get in contact with NIOD.

Can NIOD MG Modulating Glucosides help with Rosacea?

Modulating Glucosides does help with sensitivity and redness. From some posts in the Facebook Group, it is well worth trying but as always, patch test first.

Jen: Skin Type: Normal – Oily Skin
Concerns: Pigmentation, Ageing, Congestion

A star product that I rotate in and out of my routine as needed. Modulating Glucosides sounds a bit complex, but once you understand what it’s for, it’s a great addition to your routine.  Its primary function is to target sensitivity and irritation, reduce redness, and support the integrity of the skin. It uses this in two ways. The first is when I notice I’m getting some irritation from retinol. It supports healing and skin calming.  The second way I use this is in a targeted way to help with redness I can suffer from near my nose.  The product itself is a rich yellowish colour and has a host of impressive active technologies behind it.  This, paired with SDSM, is a wonderfully soothing combination that most people would benefit from, especially sensitive skin types.

Rachael: Skin Type: Normal – Dry
Concerns: Dehydration

Modulating Glucosides is tricky to decide if you need it in your regimen because it’s very subtle and has a little hidden secret among the NIOD range. If you suffer any sort of inflammation, you’ll appreciate MG. It’s helpful for acne sufferers, and because it comes in a creamy water-based consistency, you don’t need to be afraid that it’ll aggravate oil production. If you have sensitive skin, it’s your dream product. If you are trying retinol, this will help with side effects. It’s Deciem’s very best calming product, and regardless of skin type, we all go through phases of irritation for various reasons – stress, the sun, weather changes, vacations, new skincare etc. In my opinion, this is a must-have in your skincare arsenal. Personally, I really like using MG after an exfoliation treatment before hydration; it doesn’t stop my hydrating products from absorbing.
