Another Trip To The Ordinary HQ, Toronto

The Ordinary Event 2024

I was fortunate to visit The Ordinary HQ last November with some members of The Ordinary & Deciem Chat Room Facebook Group. We had the most fantastic couple of days with Deciem, so when I received an invite back this year, I didn´t hesitate to say yes!

My Two-Day Journey to Deciem HQ, Toronto: Behind the Scenes with The Ordinary

My recent trip to Deciem’s headquarters in Canada was unforgettable. It was filled with skincare insights, factory tours, exclusive previews, and even a concert! Here’s a look into my two-day adventure with Deciem, which owns The Ordinary, NIOD, and LOOPHA.

Day 1: The Skincare Immersion Begins

Arrival & Check-In
After arriving in Canada late in the evening, I checked into my hotel and found a bagful of skincare goodies waiting for me. I was so excited for what was to come. I spent the night unwinding and preparing for the busy couple of days ahead.

Morning Facial with The Ordinary
The next morning, I started my day with a refreshing facial, exclusively using The Ordinary products. Having used the brand for many years, I found it such a treat to experience their products in a professional setting. My skin felt renewed and hydrated, and I didn´t look like I had just travelled a long haul, which was a bonus!

Visit to Deciem HQ: The Heart of the Brand

Following the facial, it was time to head to Deciem HQ. Meeting the team behind the brand gave me an even deeper appreciation for The Ordinary. We listened to them as they discussed their ethos, the science behind their products, and what drives them to create effective and affordable skincare. Hearing about their commitment to transparency and innovation inspired me more than ever, especially what they give back to the community.

Lunch at The Ordinary with Brandon´s Favourites

After a beautiful morning listening to the brand, it was time to break for lunch. It was the perfect opportunity to relax downstairs in HQ and enjoy some of Brandon Truaxe´s Favourite Meals. Brandon Truaxe was the founder of Deciem and sadly passed away in 2019. Meeting some online creators and press at the same event was a great chance.

My Visit to Deciem HQ

Factory Tour: A Behind-the-Scenes Peek
After lunch, we headed to the Deciem factory for an exclusive tour. Witnessing how these products are made was eye-opening. Every detail, from the lab to the packaging, is carefully curated to ensure high-quality results. Seeing their meticulous process gave me a new appreciation for the products I use daily. You will never complain about a price rise again once you see the processes and people involved! It´s incredible how they keep the prices the way they are.

Dinner with Regional Content Creators
That evening, I joined other content creators from the UK and Ireland for dinner, where we bonded over our shared love for skincare. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded people around the region, exchange tips, and discuss our favourite Deciem products. When I arrived back at my hotel room, there was yet another surprise waiting for me in my bathroom. LOOPHA, the new hand and body wash brand, was there waiting for me to try. You can read all about Loopha here.

Day 2: A Glimpse into the Future of Deciem

Back to HQ: 2025 Product Preview

The second day started with an exciting return to Deciem HQ for an exclusive talk about the new products launching in 2025. Without giving too much away (you’ll have to wait for the official release!), I can say that there are some genuinely innovative formulas in the works. The Ordinary continues to push boundaries with its simple yet powerful skincare solutions.

Lunch Break
Once again, we took a lunch break, during which I had the opportunity to meet more of the Deciem Team. They are all so young and full of energy. If I were young (er) and lived in Toronto, I would 100% want to work here. Headquarters is such a fantastic space to work.

Lab Tour: The Science Behind the Products

In the afternoon, we toured the lab, where products start as ideas and are created with the Research and Development Team. From testing raw ingredients to formulating new products, the dedication to quality was evident at every stage. The lab technicians and scientists walked us through their rigorous testing processes, ensuring each product meets their high standards. They test at every temperature, from freezing cold to boiling hot. We even made our own Soothing & Barrier Solution, which was great fun.

Dinner and Sabrina Carpenter Concert

To end the day on a high note, we had a fantastic dinner in the hotel, followed by a concert—the only Sabrina Carpenter! It was the perfect way to wrap up the trip—an evening filled with music, laughter, and fantastic company. Sabrina’s performance was incredible, and I highly recommend you go see her if you ever have the chance.
