A look at The Ordinary Niacinamide Powder
Deciem kindly sent a powder to me and all the Facebook Group moderators before the launch date along with The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. The niacinamide powder needs to be mixed with water-based products, and The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid is perfect. It´s a cute little pot and comes with a little spoon. Warning! Keep the spoon in the box – I keep losing it.
The Ordinary Niacinamide Powder
The Niacinamide Powder should be sealed when you receive it (see photo above). Mix 1/4 of the spoon (this is a bit tricky) with 4 drops of a water-based product. I put the powder into the palm of my hands, added the Hyaluronic Acid, rubbed my palms together, and then applied it to my face. There was no grittiness or soapiness as long as you don´t use too much powder. It left the skin feeling and looking really nice. I have also mixed with the Natural Moisturising Factors, which was lovely too. I do find The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid a bit sticky. Mixing with NMF was nicer.
If you like Niacinamide, you will love this. If you like Niacinamide but dislike Zinc, then you will love this. It´s worth giving it a try for the price, but as always, be patient, be consistent, and always read the instructions on the official product page.

When and how do I use The Ordinary Niacinamide Powder?
- Mix a quarter scoop of the spoon provided with 4 drops of the water-based treatment you will use in the palm of your hand.
- Measuring a quarter of a spoon is quite tricky. It would have been better to make the spoon even smaller and just fill it.
- Apply to the face in the morning and/or evening.
- Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
- Wash hands after handling.

What should I mix it with?
You can mix this into any non-conflicting, water-based treatment, provided that the pH of the base is between 5.1 and 7.0. When it comes to choosing a water-based base to mix with this formula, there are several options available within The Ordinary brand. These include the following:

This is because it is unknown how much of the powder the customer will be dissolving into the direct acid serum. As such, we cannot judge with great precision to what extent the acidic environment may affect the chemical behaviour of Niacinamide. Therefore, as a precaution, we have added Direct Acids as a conflict. In contrast, the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum has a known amount/concentration of solubilized Niacinamide.
